Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Blog
Hello! I'm Deb and welcome to my blog.
On this site you will find all kinds of information about Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. Because after all is said and done, life without a Wheaten is very tough. And we want ours to last as long as possible. It's hard sometimes to know what to do on your own, and perhaps we can help each other out.
About me: I'm a nature lover, animal lover, and a true Wheaten lover! I have owned and bred Wheatens for a number of years. I rode and trained horses in my earlier days. I have rescued, trained and rehomed mixed breeds. I retired in 2021 after being a social worker for 38 years. I love a project and a purpose. After enjoying some much needed rest and relaxation I have started a new journey with blogging.
This blog developed out of my need for more information on gulpies, cysts and other health matters related to Wheatens. My girl Grace is ten now and was very healthy until age eight. At that time she got an infected, necrotic cyst and nearly died. Since then she’s had several surgeries that possibly could have been avoided. Both she and I suffered because of what she endured. The past two years she has had more health issues. I have seen a number of different vets and spent hours and hours searching the web trying to find solutions. I wish there had been somewhere to turn to that could have provided answers for me. I hope to make your Wheaten journey a little less challenging than ours has been these past two years.
Community: If you have information that needs to be shared with other Wheaten owners please tell me what you dealt with and what you learned. I will post it under Health in the Share Your Story section, so that other pet parents can learn from your experiences.
It is my hope that this site becomes a static blog of helpful information and resources. As Wheaten lovers I feel it's imperative that we support each other along the way.
If you have pictures or funny stories you would like posted on this website please email them to me at deb@wheatenterrier.live
